Any entity receiving taxpayer dollars should have to adhere to standards of human decency. It’s our money, not theirs. Annual rent hikes should be limited. Quick response to maintenance requests should be mandatory and enforceable, especially health hazards such as black mold, pest infestations, lack of heat in winter. A/C in summer. FHFA should have a staffed tenant advocacy office.
