    Study after study has shown that rising rents and evictions are leading to a wave of homelessness across the country, particularly in Los Angeles where nearly 80,000 people sleep on the street every night. Through the GSE's of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, the federal government can wield a huge amount of influence over many of the largest landlords and protect our homes. I urge the FHFA to establish tenant protections tied to Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae financing such as rent control, just cause eviction requirements, and quality housing standards. The financing provided through the GSEs is a huge benefit to landlords, and should come with significant responsibilities to ensure that our investment goes to the public benefit.
