Tenant Protections For Enterprise backed Multifamily Properties - I am a landlord in Collierville, Tennessee. I think the more laws that tenants and landlords must deal with, the worse it is for everybody. There are strict laws already on the books that protect tenants. If landlords are not allowed to evict tenants that don't pay, then landlords cannot make a reasonable rate of return on their real estate investments. This will ultimately result in not enough housing being built and maintained. Federal laws are inappropriate when state laws are already in place. Federal laws will just create more delay and expense, thereby insuring that the market works inefficiently. Good landlords already work with tenants who are making good faith efforts to pay rent and keep their living spaces up. The federal government has nothing productive to add to this.
