Protecting tenants from predatory practices by landlords is critical. Horsing housing stock and raising prices for the benefit of a small class of landlords to the detriment of the vast majority of people is absurd. My city, North Charleston, has the highest eviction rate in the country and that is very much because landlords aren’t regulated and can take advantage of the need of every single person for housing. Housing is a human right.
