I have lived in a federally backed property in SC and it was the worst place I lived. That shouldn't be the case. Places that are funded by public money need to be held to a higher standard. Slumlords need to be held accountable. The rent was so high in the city parts of Charleston that I ultimately ended up moving home and living at my childhood home with my mother and family of 5 due to lack of options, rent was too high and couldn't past the application processes bc of income discrimination. Give renters more protections and instate a federal rent cap.
