I am a tenant, and have been all my life. As have my parents. When i was a child, we had to leave our apartment because of egregious rent hikes. it was approximately a 30% hike if i recall correctly. today i am still a renter, with a roommate as I cannot afford to pay rent without one. this is while making approximately the median income for my neighborhood. tenants all across the country are being squeezed like they have never been squeezed before. i know tenant rent regulation is possible, as i have family members who pay rent stabilized rent and it is affordable.
