I'm a tenant and a social worker in Manchester, NH. Rents are increasing here faster than my cost of living pay raises. I felt lucky when I found out that my rent went up by "only" $100 a month. My apartment didn't get $100 better and I expect another increase when I resign my lease next year.
Because of high rents, my friends and I have delayed paying off student debt, buy homes, and spending money on activities that we enjoy. We need to make sure that any pay raises we get aren't immediately eaten up by rents. Please take action to protect tenants. The landlords know they can do whatever they want here, we need to make sure FHFA is doing all it can to protect those of us who work for a living, not the profiteers.
