We are a grass roots organization that works to better the life of senior citizens living in 55+ retirement communities in Florida and specifically Polk County and the city of Lakeland. We all have incurred unreasonable rent increases especially the past 7 years. With monies being sued from Freddy Mae & Freddy Mac the REIT companies like Equity Lifestyles have used their corporate power to advance rent increases beyond the norm. Seeing the use of federal dollars to acquire these communities is being used to expand their profit without putting anything back into the communities is a travesty and the federal government should put in protections for these seniors that live in these 55= land leased communities especially in the state of Florida.
