    I'm grateful that my apartment today feels like home. That hasn't always been the case. For years I had to fight to afford a roof over my head. Because of my housing history and criminal history I was ineligible for everywhere, regardless of hf how long it had been, no matter what my paycheck looked like.
    I never had a home for my daughter to live, she had to stay with her mother, do you know how that makes a person feel??? To not be able to provide a home for their child? The places I was able to rent I wouldn't have a pet in let alone my child.
    Apartment units with rodents, mice, insects. Housless folks living in the hallway. Without water, without heat...this wasn't one apartment this was numerous units.
    We need tenant protections, we need rent control, just cause eviction and right to counsel...for all tenants
