As a renter, I urge HFHA to EXPAND tenant protections across the board. HFHA should ban source of income discrimination, enforce safety and quality standards, require a rental registry, cement tenant/community option to purchase, encourage rent stabilization measures, and eliminate discriminatory tenant screening practices. Additionally, HFHA should advocate for fair and transparent leases, tenant right to counsel and tenant right to organize, and protect tenants from no-cause evictions.
