    Dear Director Thompson,

    My name is Nicolas Shearman, volunteer with Sane Energy Project and lifelong New Yorker. Sane Energy Project is an environmental justice organization that is part of the New York-based Housing Justice for All Coalition, as we believe the right to housing and the right to a clean environment are intrinsically linked. I urge you to adopt rules to subject recipients of federal funding from your agency, which I understand would impact 12 million apartments nationwide, to limited rent hikes, good cause eviction, and standardized leases. We want tenant protections attached to federal money for housing.
