I urge the Federal Housing Franchise Committee to require tenant protections of the landlords receiving federal funding. At a minimum tenants should be protected from rent hikes, discrimination and unfair evictions. It would also be important to require timely repairs and regular maintenance, keeping buildings are up to code and that some of the units be affordable.
