I am a low-income Senior (SSI only) who has a Section 8 Housing Voucher. After renting my home for 30 years, my landlord has decided to sell and is terminating my lease on July 31. Of course there is no way that I could buy this place. I have been searching for housing for several months and haven't found anything. I don't want to end up on the streets!

There are several housing developments in my area that were built with federally-backed mortgages. They have waitlists that are years long. I have placed myself on the ones that are open, but some are not open because they are already so long.

Every time I find a decent place that is up for rental and within the Section 8 cost guidelines, the landlord refuses to deal with Section 8.

I am in quite a bind and my deadline is fast approaching. And I'm sure that my story is just one among many. Anything that can be done to relieve this horrible situation for low-income people would be helpful, but probably too late for me.

    Thanks for your consideration.
