As a tenant, I have seen repeatedly how much power landlords have over tenants' lives. It's unjust for landlords to receive massive subsidies from the federal government without having any responsibility to treat their tenants with basic respect. Public money must be spent in the public interest, and funneling funds to landlords who turn around and exploit tenants is not the public interest. We must ensure that FHA loans are used to provide housing that gives tenants basic protections and rights.
