I am a renter, both for my housing and for the exhibits that I curate that re-imagine disability as opulent and powerful. Rents have skyrocketed out of control in California and across the US, with little to no protections for renters and even fewer affordable options in terms of places that meet ADA requirements.
I urge you to push for legislation that limits rent hikes, bans evictions without good cause, and standardizes leases in over 12 million apartment units nationwide.
