I wanted to comment here because I'm currently being forced to move and I'm not happy about it.

I moved into an apartment in North Shore, Ma 3 years ago and within the first year my rent went up $365.00 per month, then the second year it went up another $100.00 per month now this year the rent is going up $400.00 per month!! I'm a single mother and I have to rely on Section 8 to help pay for my rent, the housing was agreeable to the first 2 rent increases but not to this one, they made an offer to the Landlord for an extra $200.00 a month but he denied it and sent me a notice to quit in the mail, so now I'm frantically trying to find another place to live to avoid eviction. This process has been VERY stressful because the cost of rent and security deposits are so high. I would like to add that I also have a cat that I started paying an extra $25 a month for, then it went up to $50 and now it's up to $75.00 per month! There is no rent control in Mass. and we REALLY need it. I hope the law can be changed at some point. Thank you
