Please do not add a 1% fee to the mortgages of people with good credit scores. My husband and I have worked so hard to grow and maintain our credit scores. And even now in this housing market we cannot afford a monthly payment at current rates. Any additional increase is cruel and punishing. We have sacrificed and worked so hard to get to where we are now. We had to Learn how to navigate credit just like everyone else. We have come so far from the time when I had to claw myself out of debt on maxed out credit cards when I was making $24,000 a year out of college (in CA) and from the time my husband got denied buying a car with over 50% cash down payment but he had zero credit at 28 years old.

The solution is not a fee/ tax. If inequality is the issue, the government must be responsible for reaching their target audience with more education around credit scores and support for people building their financial identity.
