FHLB is an essential asset to community banks. We have been a member of FHLB for 20 year plus and there is no doubt that FHLB ability to provided liquidity in time need (for example during Covid 19) has been a lifeline for us community banks. Another item which has helped community banks is FHLBanks willingness to support low-income housing and community development (the Affordable Housing Program and the Community Investment Program) which are great programs.
