We have as an industry come to rely on FHLB to smooth out the impact of liquidity related volatility. Being a CDFI in a rural area of Hawaii, FHLB is sometimes our choice source of funding for critical projects on the island ... mostly housing related (more than 50% of our portfolio is mortgages). Any requirement around funds tracking and which projects/initiatives are being funded through FHLB funding would certainly be cost prohibitive and be a strain on a financial institution our size.
