Our local FHLB in Des Moines has been essential to us through the years providing needed liquidity at various times. Having a source like FHLB allows my community bank to serve my small rural community in Iowa that no regional or national banking organization would serve given its sparse population. Local community banks are vital for these rural communities to survive and FHLB gives us the funding mechanism needed to help our communities grow and thrive.
