    The mission of Freedom First Credit Union (FFCU) is “Helping People Prosper, Helping Communities Thrive”. FFCU provides consumer, commercial, and mortgage loans to more than 60,000 members. Our Southwest VA Target Market (TM) includes two Persistent Poverty Counties (PPCs), 25 High Poverty Areas (HPAs) and 13 Opportunity Zones (OZs) including a 20-county region in the Roanoke, New River, and Shenandoah Valleys as well as throughout Central and Southwest Virginia. Freedom First has 11 branches and more than $1B in assets. The Federal Home Loan Bank is a vital partner in serving these communities.
    FFCU utilizes the FHLB of Atlanta to assist with both short- and long-term liquidity needs. FHLB has played an instrumental role in the strategic operations of our business especially in times of economic stress. In addition, FFCU successfully accessed $180,000 in down payment assistance in the Set Aside program over a period of 3-years through the FHLB program. This has allowed many families who would not have been able to qualify to get into homes.
