I have been involved with the FHLB of Boston for about 8 years, in my role as CFO and Treasurer at SBLI of MA. I have nothing but positive things to say about their people, mission and assistance. As a life insurance company, we generally don't have short term liquidity needs. However, we have been involved in a spread lending program for several years, which has proven very successful. The earnings on this program have funded, among other things, several of our investments in Low Income Housing Tax Credits. The FHLB of Boston is an excellent resource for educational and networking options as well. I very much appreciate the regional aspect, as we know and deal regularly with local representatives. It is clear to me that they have very appropriate risk tolerances, and as a CPA I know how important that is. All in all, I think everyone at the FHLB of Boston is an effective steward of the FHLB mission, and I look forward to considering even more programs with them.
