FHLB-Topeka is and has been a very reliable source of funding for Guaranty. FHLB funding has allowed Guaranty to meet the farm financing and residential financing needs of the rural communities in Guaranty's trade are. 10% of Guaranty's loan portfolio are residential real estate notes financing residences in very small rural towns. Guaranty keeps those loans in-house rather than selling them into the secondary market. FHLB funding makes keeping those mortgages in-house possible and allows Guaranty to be flexible in meeting unique demands in small rural towns and in the countryside around these towns.
