The Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines is crucial to F & C Bank's operation for the access to funding. Our bank is a very active lender and we will soon be needing to access resources so that we can continue loaning money in our community. Having a Home Loan Bank located in our area, that understands the needs of our bank that are different from other geographic areas is critical. In addition, if other organizations are trying to access funding of this type, it would impact the safety and soundness concerns. Banks are highly regulated and therefore are safe entities to lend money to. And if our operations change, our regulators would pinpoint the problems and control our ability to obtain funding. The other financial providers, outside of the banking industry, would not have that same structure of accountability and oversight and therefore should not be allowed to access the same system of funding options.
