As a rural affordable housing developer, we see that the ability for Fannie Mae to invest in the Low-Income Housing Tax-Credit program is essential. Corporate investors often limit their investments in rural areas to those of significant CRA needs. This has created additional barriers in providing much needed affordable housing in rural areas.
It is very important that GSE's are not further limited in their ability to invest in LIHTC. In fact, an expansion of their ability to invest both as a direct investor and in multi-investor LIHTC should be done to serve the most difficult to develop areas of our nation.
