I am the President of any organization that has homeless shelters and recovery programs. One of our biggest problems is the lack of affordable housing. When you graduate from one of our programs you usually are making only $12/hour and it is nearly impossible to find market rate housing with that wage.
Given what I have witnessed, I support FHFA modernizing the uniform appraisal reports by including standardized ways to evaluate gross living area, home amenities, and comparable sales. Standardizing appraisals will decrease implicit and explicit racial bias. Additionally, I support the FHFA investing in new technologies that more accurately access value and make it possible for home buyers, sellers, and owners to determine fair market values with their own smartphones. Making these tools accessible will not only decrease inequality but equip home owners with tools to identify and report violations of the Fair Housing Act.
