It is exceptionally clear to me that housing appraisals are significantly depressed in nearby neighborhoods that are predominately Black/non-White, compared to the largely white (but still somewhat multi-ethnic) neighborhood in my community of Oak Park, IL. A 3 mile stroll around my area reveals significant changes in ethnic demographic factors in the larger homes nearby. Despite the reported best efforts of this community to uphold a model of racial equity, the obvious gaps in access to (and possession of) resources is staggering.
