Hello Federal Housing Finance Agency
I, Mary Huntting of Tumwater WA would like to add my comments on a proposed rule that would address barriers to sustainable housing opportunities for underserved communities by codifying existing, fair housing, and equitable housing finance plans. In August of 2011 I purchased an older home at Western Plaza which is a senior manufacture home park located in the same above area; with the knowledge I was investing in AFFORDABLE housing! Presently my rent is $570 plus I have a separate water/sewer bill around $74. Please note the yearly rent increase was $10--$15 , with the first dominant!
Please note at age 29 I started a job I DEARLY LOVED knowing I would be building my financial retirement years!
An out -of -state investor Legacy Communities LLC became the new owners of Western Plaza on June 1, 2022. I retired in July 2022 learning the out-of -state investor Legacy LLC had evil up their sleeve! Myself and others quickly learned Legacy LLC did not care about the tenants here at Western Plaza; for Legacy LLC refused to meet with us, nor answer any of our questions! Hay even the new manager could not or would not answer our questions, except to let us know our first rent increase would be $100 while new move in's would be paying rent of $900. Now a year later and that $900 has advanced to $950. Legacy LLC goal is to turn our AFFORDABLE HOUSING into "Market Rate". Western Plaza is NOT MARKET RATE!
Since Legacy LLC will not answer our questions, the present residence feel strongly our yearly rent will keep increasing by $100 until it reaches over $900 plus. Also the "sneaky" lease is stating other fees to add as "base rent"; i.e. Western Plaza real property tax; hinting of our cable, recycling, and garbage pickup fees to be added when they so please! My retirement $ are in ruins due to the irresponsibility of The Federal Housing Finance Agency for not taking percautions toward insuring that the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae), and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp (Freddie Mac), and the Federal Home Loan Banks---(Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac collectively); in thoroughly investigating the applications of out-of-state investors or others who in turn have strong intentions to displace seniors and do away with AFFORDABLE HOUSING for their company's own benefit and welfare!
This atrocity is taking place all over the United States!
With senior displacement and homelessness at a prevalent level due to the above; it is all the more urgent that EMERGENCY action is taken!
We at Western Plaza are doing our best to fight for justice; and EXPECT the same from you!
Thank-you for your time!
