I just found out that big mobile home park investors are getting Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac loans to by 55+ communities. From what I hear, this is what our new owners did and then they promptly upped our space rent. Our rent was $585 and now it is $685, and it will go up to $950 or more over the next few years. How is this "affordable housing" for seniors who only get $1,000 SSA checks for income? These big mobile home owners and doing this all over the county. It's easy money, because they do next to nothing for park support, park maintenance and clean-up, etc. Please stop allowing this to happen unless they are also required to base space rent costs for existing seniors on an income basis or something. We are fortunate to be able to afford this raise in our rent, but for how long since we haven't yet retired? Please help, thank you!
