"It doesn't seem as though research was done as to WHY there is a discrepancy in loan approval rates, in these different demographic groups. The research cited appears to only show that a difference exists. Perhaps there is a cultural difference in what different demographics value. Individual choices and what various people groups deem important, it seems, should be taken into account when reviewing these statistics. Considering the objective standards of the evaluation required of the banks with regard to credit scores, approval, and mortgage, the process by its nature, has to be fair. It therefore follows, that an issue OUTSIDE the system, is causing the discrepancies. If banks and credit assessors are doing something illegal, that should be addressed. If not, then those applying for the loans are all doing something different with their CHOICES and PERSONAL FINANCES. It is not the job of the FHFA to subsidize poor life or personal finance choices."
