"We defer to Congress" on any exit from conservatorship, Sandra Thompson said in an answer to a senator's question during her confirmation hearing to be head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency. Why?? Is the bureaucrat confused?? Is there a need for the delaying actions of Congress. Is she muddying the water? The President is in charge. He is the Chief Conservator!
All that is needed is a few strokes of his pen.
