    The conservatorship was imposed on the GSE for no valid reasons. Since then, even assuming validity of the conservatorship documents, the GSEs have given back all amounts imposed and some more to the Treasury. It is like the Treasury gave $1 to the GSE and forcibly took back $2 dollars that the GSE legitimately earned in the course of their business operations. This is illegal expropriation of private wealth in violation of the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution. The Treasury and the FHFA must end this Conservatorship and release the GSEs to shareholder ownership as publicly traded companies.
