    Many areas of town are excluded from conventional financing because of pricing. Many of these are neighborhoods that young professionals with children desire. The areas closest to town are the hardest hit. Neighborhoods such as the Houston Heights, which is one of Houston's oldest, has seen prices move into the $500's & up. Less than 10 years ago prices in these neighborhoods started in the upper $200's.
