I think that you should release these companies ASAP , I also think it is enough for the Treasury to DIRECT Fannie and Freddie to buy 40 billion a month of CRAP assets from BANKS to tune of $40 billion a month. It would not take long to accumulate 188 billion in bad assets at that rate. Less than 5 months into the conservatorship. You helped your friend big banks to cover their losses, now you want the same bank to take over GCE and give them business you take from these 2 marvelous companies. I hope you are not seriously considering it? You stole money from them to pay losses for wrong bets to banks no wonder they are settling their cases with you because they paying back a minuscule amount in penalties compare to what they have received from GCE and AIG. We the taxpayer and shareholders are no stupid you know. And now some banks and their friends bought a lot of properties at the depressed prices and they would rather see people rent these properties then to have their own house which gives people more stability . So don't just care for the 1% of population start to care for the rest of us. Release GCE and let them do their job the job they have done for years and really good job. They were always good companies taking care of all people making mortgages affordable and people dreams were coming true when they were able to own their homes and pay for it with the 30 year affordable mortgages . So stop your propaganda about these companies and release them and after you do start talking about deals you made with banks and all the money you transfer stolen money I might add. Yes you stole the money from the shareholders and gave them to banks. So don't cover up your true intentions which are that all big banks have not enough that is why the next business for them is to take over the GCE and make our lives that much more miserable . So if you care at all let these companies be free from you and let them do the business and good job at providing affordable mortgages for the average JO.
