    I do not think there should be ANY low-income housing goals for Fannie and Freddie. I think these companies should be required to make safe, secure mortgage loans to ANY person who qualifies for the loans, regardless of race or location. The standards need to be high enough to protect taxpayers from another bailout, but low enough to encourage home ownership. Where is that line? It should be set by the companies themselves. Government should not be telling private companies to make loans that are not safe loans to creditworthy customers.

    If the government wants to give away housing, fine, but it is wrong to make a private company take that risk.

    There should be no government guarantee for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. They should be released to operate as private companies. They should have the same rights and limitations as any other private corporation, because they are private corporations.
